Support St. Thomas Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry!The Greater Chicago Food Depository’s 27th Annual Hunger Walk takes place on Saturday, June 23rd at Soldier Field. As you may know, St. Thomas of Canterbury’s Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry get much of their food from the Food Depository at a nominal cost. In the past 12 months, we provided 6,055 bags of groceries and 16,900 meals (hearty soup, bread, salad, drinks, and dessert) for about $8,250—that’s a bag of groceries and 3 hot meals for $1.50! The Food Depository supplies hundreds of food pantries and soup kitchens like ours in the Chicago area, providing many thousands of individuals and families with the most basic necessities of life. The Hunger Walk is the one time each year that GCFD agencies and sponsors join together to show their commitment to the fight against hunger and to raise funds for the operation of the Food Depository. St. Thomas of Canterbury wants to have 25 walkers and raise $6,000 for the coming year. We will receive a credit of $12 for each person who walks for our agency. Please bring a completed registration form with you to the Walk. You can also help us by requesting pledges from family, friends, and neighbors. If you collect pledges, please submit them with a pledge form on the day of the Hunger Walk or by mail to the address below.
